Day 4: Prokofiev Piano Concerto 2 Movement 1 Cadenza: Legato Technique

Day 4: Prokofiev Piano Concerto 2 Movement 1 Cadenza: Legato Technique
The legato technique is important to get a firm grip on your keys and to make your playing sound more fluid and increase accuracy. A supple hand is necessary to play fast scales. Here is how to do this exercise: Always keep a finger on a key (unless there are big jumps). Only remove your finger from a key when you have hit another key. Perform an up down movement for each note. This will force your finger to be firm because of the movement of your hand. As your hand is being trained to hit notes firmly, you will increase accuracy. See it like a tree with its roots embedded in the earth. This technique is the complete opposite of the Cortot technique as it requires your hand to move freely. You'll see that sometimes I shake with my hand, just to check if my hand is sturdy enough. After the exercise you will play scales much more fluid and accurately. I only use this technique on parts where there are many scales to play, for example the last part of the cadenza, which I will ! demonstrate here. The next exercise video will be the rotation technique, commonly used in playing pieces of Bach to train ourselves in finger directional movement.

From South Stack Cottage - Anglesey Coast Path - Dog friendly

From South Stack Cottage - Anglesey Coast Path - Dog friendly
Some of the best walks on Anglesey can be found on the coast path. All the paths are dog friendly although you may wish to put your dog on a lead by the cliffs. Please note the pictures in the video are not all on the coast path. South Stack cottage (Y Fron) is situated on the coast path so provides easy access for details please see: southstackcottage.co.uk To do the walk in full can take anything up to a fortnight, but you can also enjoy the walk in small sections. Te terrain will test even serious walkers and is coastal heath, dunes, farmland, salt-marsh and cliffs. The Path is never more than 720 feet above sea-level. St Cybi's Church in Holyhead is the main start point, although as it's a circular route you can start wherever you like. 95% of the Path runs through Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. So expect to see birdlife. Lots of it: guillemots, razorbills, puffins, terns and cormorants. Look out for dolphins and other marine life such as seals and purpoises too. Th! ere are great views from Holyhead Mountain which is Anglesey's highest point, all the way over to Snowdonia on the mainland. Their is a white sea arch carved into a cliff by the wild waters of Rhoscolyn. Four working lighthouses can be seen and a real medieval castle at Beaumaris which is also a World Heritage Site. And big sandy beaches which don't come much bigger or sandier than Newborough Beach and Red Wharf Bay where you can get the sand between your toes. Or catch the surf from the beach at ...
